Polls 2018: Fawad Chaudhary greets nation on ‘new Pakistan’, refers Imran as ‘PM’

Perhaps jumping the gun before official announcement of the election results, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhary tweeted to congratulate nation on “new Pakistan” and dubbed party chief Imran Khan as the “Prime Minister ”.

The final results are yet to come when Chaudhary posted a tweet, however tentative results at 11.04pm show that the PTI is leading with 103 NA seats, followed by52 PML-N, 32 PPP, 20 independents, eight MMA and three MQM.

In hotly contested elections, the polling day witnessed sporadic foul plays including a major bombing incident outside a polling station in Quetta that claimed over two dozens of lives and scores of scuffles among the workers of rival political parties. However, the polling process remained smooth and peaceful in major parts of the country.

Fawad Chaduhry is contesting from NA-67 Jhelum-2.

On June 28, the Lahore High Court (LHC) had accepted Fawad Chaudhry’s plea allowing him to contest the upcoming general election from NA-67, Jhelum.

The PTI leader had moved the LHC against an appellate election tribunal’s decision restraining him from contesting from NA-67.
