FAISALABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday questioned the interim Punjab government’s neutrality by saying the provincial government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are two sides of the same coin.
Addressing a rally in Faisalabad city of Punjab, the PML-N president urged people to vote for the “respect for vote” slogan given by party’s supreme leader Mian Nawaz Sharif and defeat the designs of PTI and the interim government “who are two sides of same coin”.
The PML-N president also criticised PTI chief Imran Khan for “not producing enough electricity” in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province despite boastful claims before 2013 elections while the PML-N government in center produced thousands of megawatts and steered the country out of energy crisis.
He also lambasted the PTI chief by saying that he wants to rule the country while he could not effectively run a province and wasted all his energy in criticizing PML-N.
The PML-N president said that he, as Chief Minister Punjab, worked day in and day out for the betterment of the province while his brother, former PM Nawaz Sharif, did the same in center and are the only ones demanding votes on the basis of their performance.
“Mian Nawaz Sharif left his ailing wife in London to travel to Pakistan with his daughter knowing full well that he will be arrested and is now serving jail time, do our opponents have a single politician who can do that?,” Shehbaz asked the crowd.
Terming the cases against his brother and party’s supreme leader “politicially motivated”, Shehbaz claimed that the judge who wrote the verdict leading to their prison sentence himself wrote that the jury found no evidence of corrupt practices against Nawaz Sharif or his family.
The PML-N president concluded his speech by promising to establish a varsity and start a metro-bus project in Faislabad if the city votes for PML-N
