LONDON: British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt has said the recently held general elections in Pakistan are an important moment for democracy.
In a statement in London, he extended his deepest condolences to the victims of a recent attack and said the people of Pakistan have shown they would not be cowed by the terrorists who seek to disrupt the democratic process.
The British foreign secretary said the UK government is looking forward to continuing its work with the new federal and provincial governments.
He assured his country’s support to the people of Pakistan to build the democratic, secure and prosperous future they deserve.
He congratulated millions of voters who participated in elections saying Jinnah’s vision of a tolerant, pluralist Pakistan remains central to a stable and cohesive society.
