Five killed in Peshawar hotel blast

PESHAWAR: At least five people were killed and two other injured late on Thursday night when a bomb exploded at a local hotel on GT Road in Bilal Town, Peshawar.

According to information, the blast took place on the hotel’s fourth floor killing four of a family staying in the hotel.

The victims were identified as Mehran (22), Najmina (50), Nargis (24) and Rukhmela (4).

Three persons in the next room were severely injured and shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital by by rescue officials. One of the injured later succumbed to his injuries.

All of the victims belonged to Thal Hangu.

Rescue officials relayed that the windows of the hotel shatterd and fell on the cars in the parking area.

A fire broke out at the hotel shortly after the blast but rescue 1122 officials extinguished it and safely rescued rest of the people trapped inside.

CCPO Peshawar visited the crime scene.

Additional Inspector General (AIG) police Shafqat Malik in his media talk said investigation was underway to determine whether the blast was caused by a gas cylinder, short circuit or explosives.
