LAHORE: Shehbaz Sharif, president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, will lead a rally to Lahore airport to receive erstwhile premier Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz on Friday.
Party’s spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb informed during a news conference that “Preparations to give a historic reception to Nawaz and Maryam are under way. Shahbaz will lead the PML-N rally on July 13.”
The former information minister said that tens of thousands of people will gather to give a warm welcome to Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz at Lahore airport.
“The choice of public for July 25 elections will be reflected on July 13,” she added.
Earlier, Shehbaz Sharif chaired a party meeting of senior PML-N leaders to review the arrangements of party rally scheduled for the reception of PML-N’s supreme leader Nawaz Sharif.
After meeting, Senator Mushahid Husain Syed told media men that the return of Mr Sharif is a matter of life and death for the PML-N.
While other party leaders commented that all party workers have been eagerly waiting to receive Nawaz Sharif.
Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz, who have been convicted by an accountability court in the Avenfield reference case, are scheduled to arrive on Friday July 13 in Lahore.
The caretaker Punjab government has decided to impose Section 144 in the areas adjoining the Lahore airport to avoid any untoward incident during the arrival and likely arrest of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
