Asad Umar appointed as chairman of NA Standing Committee on finance

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly’s Standing Committee appointed former Finance Minister Asad Umar as the chairman of finance committee on Thursday.

According to Dunya News, a notification was issued to appoint Asad Umar as the head of Standing Committee on Finance.

Former FM replaced Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) member Syed Basit Ahmed Sultan as the new member of the committee because PTI had to withdrew one of the committee’s members to accommodate him and he also took the reins of chairmanship from PTI MAN Faiz Ullah.

Prime Minister Imran Khan met former Finance Minister and PTI stalwart Asad Umar on May 7 to ponder over the matters related to his return and offered him to re-join the federal cabinet.
